It’s been a while and we wanted to give our community an update.
The past 2 years have been tough, to say the least.. We’ve moved work and school into our homes and shifted meetings, classes and events online.
We’ve had to wave to loved ones through windows to say “hi” and awkwardly wave to colleagues on Zoom when we say “bye” (why do we do that? 😳) Our pets and children invaded video calls, toilet paper hoarders stormed grocery stores, masks became the latest fashion trend and if we had a dollar for every time someone said “persevere”, we’d be set for life!
While the pandemic rages on globally, our dedicated team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring our community not one, but two virtual Vancouver Startup Weeks. Virtual events. Ugh. We’re tired of it. And we know you kind of are too. So with that being said, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel VSW2022.
As a team, we decided that our next VSW would be in person but with uncertainty still surrounding COVID-19, we don’t believe we can realistically plan and bring you a VSW that we’d be proud of and that you’d be stoked to attend this year.
We have some great ideas and plans in store but we know we can’t replicate them in a virtual setting - trust us, we’ve put a lot of thought and effort into this over the last couple of years! Let’s be real, we all miss catching up in person, sharing stories in person, celebrating your successes in person... And all of the hand shakes, hugs and high-fives. Oh, how we miss those!
Our team will be taking the extra few months to implement new initiatives internally and continue conversations with members of our community to plan a fun and impactful Vancouver Startup Week in May 2023. And don’t worry, we’ll also be taking some time for ourselves as we all go through some big life milestones and maybe just take a nap on the couch because we could all use one. In the meantime, stay tuned for exciting updates from us as we head towards VSW2023.
